Essentially, they are trying to use the computers Kazaa is installed in as a distributed computing network to profit from their network, part of this computing power will be for charitable purposes, but a lot of it will be for profit as well.

This is old news, basically "true" freeware is harder and harder to find these days, fortunately www.onlythebestfreeware.com makes an effort not to list any spyware/etc on their site.

It's odd, I have one machine here, ENZO, that for the past two weeks has not been used for anything but kazaa downloads. When I went to run another program on it a couple nights ago I found a couple new programs in the start menu. Programs that did not have uninstallers. Programs that I know bloody well I did not install. There is no one else in my home to install them and ENZO's drives are shared as read only to the machines on my network only.

So how did those programs get installed? The only conclusion I can reach is thar they came from kazaa.

I have also noticed that despite having Pop-up Stopper installed, I was finding half a dozen pop-up windows open on ENZO every time I looked at it. And only Kazaa running.

Kazza has since been removed from my system. It will not be installed again.

Try www.kazaalite.com some guy took the spyware out of kazaa and released it.
Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye, then its just fun in the dark.
