Do you leak any fluids, do you have any bumps on your rear, do you have any unpleasant odors?
If you answered yes to any of these then you are not qualified to own a new AMD ATHLON XP.
If someone ask you if you are running the all-new fastest AMD ATHLON XP, just turn around and reply "WHY YES, AND ITS CERTIFIED"

I have my "dream" Pc right now...a dual p3 1ghz with 2 500 watt recievers as my speakers (1 for front L,R and the other for Rear L,R)
Only thing I could add would be ...well, max out the mobo ram (4gb) or add Scsi160...but why would I?

3D Card - ATI Radeon 64meg DDR
Sound Card - Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
Speakers - I like Daemon's setup!
Monitor - I love the KDS Monitors
CD-RW - Plextor!
Case - Lot's of good choices, but definately at least 350W PS
I only post using 100% recycled electrons!!!

- Abit KT7A-RAID for SDR or Abit KR7-RAID (when available) for DDR. The KG7-RAID is another good board, but is not as impressive as the KT7A-RAID.
- ATI Radeon 64Mb DDR or wwait for the Radeon2 (R200)
- Soundblaster Live! 5:1
- Creative Desktop Theater DTS
- Monitor, whatever you like the look of yourselve & suits your eyesight.
- Plextor 24x10x40
- Any case that you like & is sufficient to your needs.

From the way all things sound, the next King of The Athlon Hill will be the Abit KG7-RAID. On the front page of the Windrivers site there is a link to a review for it. It will support the Athlon (and with a BIOS upgrade according to the review for this board that hasnt hit the market yet...) it should support the Athlon 4 or the Palamino or whatever the successor to the Athlon is called.
I am already counting down the days til I can get this board.
If it aint broke, TWEAK it!
When in doubt, throw it out!!

Simple
Mainboard = Asus A7A266, obviously, high performance motherboard and usually little to no trouble with it lasting.[*]3d Card = depends on simplicity, the best of the best is Asus is a relatively cheap 3d graphics card maker, but they have high performance chips. They will soon be releasing a GeForce 3 with 128 mb ddr ram, i'd wait around for that one.[*]Sound Card = Sound Blaster Live Platinum (everything you can and would want in a Sound card at a low price)[*]Speakers = Creative Labs - Cambridge Sound Works 3500DTT, Dolby Digital 5.1 4 satelites with accoustic sound, a Center, A powerful sub, remote, and the ability to hook up other games systems or your tv to it.[*]Monitor = Viewsonic, Sony, pretty much the best out there.[*]CD-RW = Plextor Plexwriter 16x or (24x?) Plexwriters tend to hold up the best, tend to work the best with burn-proof, very favorable.[*]Case - Anything with a 300 to 350 power supply, for sturdiness I've always liked Macase cases, otherwise for looks, depends on what you want.

Gigabyte 7DX-R
1.33 GHz Athlon OC'ed to 1500+
Geforce3 Gainward or ASUS OC'ed
SB Live! Platinum or Hercules Game Theater XP
Labtec Pulse 424 (2 sets)
Don't laugh until you heard 'em. $300 sound for $50. 'Maximum PC Kick *** 9'
Sony 21: flat screen
Plextor CD-RW
Aluminium case or a full ATX Tower
Also:
GlobalWin WBK38 or ThermalRight SK6
RAID array of IBM HD
98SE & Win2K
Heck, wait for the new Maximum PC. They'll give you 3 versions.
Hey man! Hand me that thing. Not that thing! The other thing!!! You know, the thing!!!

I just built mine, but here it is anyways:
Abit VP6 m/b
Dual P III 700 MHz @ 933
640 Megs of PC133 fixing to be changed to CorsAir PC150
Asus v7700 Pure (GeForce2 GTS 32 MB SGRAM)
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (If anyone knows of a good sound card other than the SB Live! let me know, cause I'm not happy with the Santa Cruz)
A pair of IBM 40GB 60GXP HDD's. These are stripped so that they are faster than average. They rate considerably faster than the average in SiSoft benchmark.
Plextor SCSI2 12x/4x/32x burner.
I am looking at a Hercules Game Theater XP Sound card to replace the Santa Cruz. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Instruction Booklet ??
I think I saw it in the trash that just went out.
