Post Evaluate a new sport before i go public

    Hello techland!
Don't tell anyone outside the forums about this idea, but i need to se what other people think about this one...
Looking for opinions/input on the new event i am submitting to ESPN for consideration for the X-games. All the other "extreme sports" are just so tired and played out.. We need something more dangerous and exciting, something along the lines of:

    LAVA SURFING!

a deadly combination of surfing and snowboarding styles, with highly specialized equipment. Point system based on tricks, with no deductions for wipeouts, since you fry when you hit the 1000degreeF lava flow. Event takes place in Mauna Loa Hawaii.
    Heat resistant suits optional.
Is this possible? I KNOW it's cool.

In theory it's possible, first you would need a board which would glide on the lava, or above it. Second the suit would have to have some kind of breathing device, because of the fumes. Third the suit would have to be able to withstand presure from the lava if you fall into it. It's a good idea but I don't think the technology is here yet.

I feel like snowboarding right now. Is it just me? Or do these forums seem really really slow lately?

If this goes well, we can add in some other sports, like Skateboarding on the edges of the roof of the Empire State Building, rappelling off of power plants using live electrical wires instead of rope, and bungee jumping using live Cobras instead of bungee cords.

How about skydiving from outer space, angel falls canoeing and rocket car chicken races.

Kilauea is the volcano that is still flowing lava in Hawaii. It could get pretty boring waiting for a lava flow on Mauna Loa....

Elbatcho, those rocket car chicken races sound GREAT to me. Where DOES your little primate brain get so many good ideas from?

    yes!
you guys have some coo ideas too.
And if you wipe out, you are dead, which is why the ratings will be so high for this when it airs. Not to mention the video game and eventually the film...
Yeah KILAWEAH! (sp) I saw these lava flows on the Discovery channel, and they are just begging to have some fool hop in there and go nuts!
