Just wanted to say the "clique" has one less member. I'm going on little self-imposed vacation.

Be back whenever I feel like it.

Cobra bud, stick around. I hope you're not leaving us because of this 'clique' business. What does it matter? You agreed with me that by its very nature this forum was cliquey. So there is no argument to answer.

I called you bud, does that mean I'm a member? I don't think so. If we have to get formal that's when I'll leave.

I definitely agree with this statement.
He had numerous chances to change his ways and instead continually caused problems.
Yes I was one of hte people who jumped all over him, but I'm also someone who has tried to help him in the past and had him try and turn it into a flame war with others.
So you see if the ones who wish to be included and say they will not cause problems did what they said they would we wouldnt have half the problems we have.

Just my opinion.

He's not the only one going on vacation. I'll be back on the forums in a few days.

When someone's actions have gone from warned-about annoyances to actual criminal actions - and I don't think I'm putting too fine a point on that statement in light of the shenanigans of the last day or so - they SHOULD be dealt with. And, in the process, if it seems a clique arises to quash the offender, well, the chips are just gonna hafta fall where they will.

Someone said earlier in the thread that over a period of time relationships have built up. This is true not only of these WinDrivers forums but of anywhere where people gather, either online or f2f. While this is very true here at WinD, it is not now, has not ever been, or ever will be a closed society.

Forgive me for speaking for many of the regulars (for I think they'll agree), but ANYONE who contributes to WinD in a positive and contructive manner - even if they only post here in the lounge - is welcome.

Ok I see that some people are taking this as a personal attack on themselves, when I try very hard to keep in general, I definetly don't want more separation and hard feelings, I was just trying to bring up a point. And of course I don't condone illegal or destructive behavior. You can tell by the answers tho, where people are coming from. Windrivers stands out as a tech forum and I would hate to see that change for reasons that have nothing to do with being a tech and helping people out, that is the only reason I posted this topic, maybe to make people think about it. I could have just quit and not said anything and I am sure some would have been happy about that, but I hoped maybe some would see what maybe they haven't seen before, instead of just quitting. ...notice that all but one admit there is a clique, no matter which side they feel they are on. Why does it have to be a fact of life, why can't everyone be friends equally as far as the forums go, it's not like this is the one-and-only form of friendly communication (unless they are trouble-makers, and let the mods take care of it, when did it change to members doing immediate discipline of anyone they don't like what they say), and you can defend someone with out using ugly, abusive, instigating language. And it was never so bad like this before... and obviously if you are on the "inside" you don't see any problem with it.

Jeanne, I don't think that anyone was trying to get on your case over this, and if I have given you that impression then please accept my apology. The Tech Lounge ishere to help people out with non technical problems. I for one have taken great comfort from some of the replies and advice given to me in my personal postings, and I hope that I can do the same for others. If you're going through a rough time emotionally this is just the place to be.

Long may it remain that way.

I think you seem to be missing the fact that I did not cause any actual criminal actions. Sure I'm the one who brought up software piracy a couple of times but it does not mean that I am the one who did something to your website. And for even bringing up software piracy I'm also sorry. I really just wish I could be one of you all and not the outcast, because i didn't DO ANYTHING.

I swore I wouldn't post here anymore, but....not liking me is one thing, falsely accusing me of doing something is a whole other issue.

And why is the text on the forums all blurry

no problem, Doc.. I can accept opposing or different opinions, it is often what creates great conversation... and I am not taking anything personally, just trying to clarify my position.
Jungle I don't know the facts or what happened, but I feel bad for you if it is not true... thats what gossip and leaked info can do....if it is true I doubt you would still be here now.

jungleman - what makes you think I'm talking about you? Brings to mind a quote from Shakespeare: "Methinks thou dost protest too much."
