Why have a certain numbers for different things then, like the avatars? Just curious..
and I didn't know being polite and respectful to people was a change either.
My mistake, but then look at your response to the guy that stuck up for me. I guess the guys can't stand it cause I didn't just meekly bow to their opinions. I don't see a mass of people saying I am wrong just the same ones over and over. What have I said that was so wrong, anyway? Why do some resent so much (and so belligerently) that I think ridicule and nastyness should go away. I guess it's fine by you when they mocked me in here, and created another post for the same reason, I didn't see you stand up for me against them for that anyway even if you don't agree with my opinion.
Really I am surprised and disappointed.</STRONG>
You seem to be set on overhauling the way posts and stars are put out. I have never mentioned anything else about the attitudes, the cliques, the attitudes, the rudness.
I had not even read the JvaGuy topic. I didn't even know that one existed.
The guy that tried to stick up for you, did it in a way that was not the best way. His post came off, to me, as more of a public scolding of the members. In a controversal topic, the best way is to be calm and clollected.

I never said anyone said it, where did I state that? You guys twist everything. And you never did tell me my so-called label?? I'd like to see it...
Is this so illogical? To me it seems, if you were a new or average\occasional member, looking for help and people were offering help wouldn't you assume that maybe someone who's rank in a tech forum says tech god or even tech master, etc would know what they were talking about, maybe you would follow their advice over someone with a lower title, wouldn't you think the titles were created for some purpose or reason having to do with being able to give sound advice?? And before you say it, I don't mean looking for help in the tech lounge, I assume some techs of different levels can also still be found in the tech forums, I know I have seen some there before.... How come there is such strong response about a small comment about post counts, and none about the several times I mention the the way some members are treating other members?? Strange... but thats windrivers today....

again I say WHAT OVERHAUL?? Where did I say overhaul the whole posting and ranking system?? It was one observation, and I said it was in the last 50 posts, did I say everybody, did I say I wanted to overhaul the whole system, just one thing, and I said it was my opinion?? It was in response to things said to me. I just said I ("I", thats all, I didn't say you have to agree)did not see much point to a system for tech ranking that may have nothing to do with technical knowledge. Didn't I ask for more information, didn't I ask what was the purpose from the point of windrivers? No one gave me an answer except to ask Scott.
So vicious....
And that was a calm and collected response you gave??

Hey, I won't pretend that I'm a great orator(writer). And perhaps my message was cloudy. Given time, you would understand that is just who I am. But how was my response to the behavior displayed any less of a "good" response than posting a thread thats sole intention was to mock this thread? Answer me that, and I'll be happy.

I was not aware of a thread that was mocking this one. I assume it's in the tech lounge. I'll find it and close it if that makes you two (JeanneD and Falcon) happy.

It's not about closing the thread. Hell, this really isn't even my battle, I don't know why I feel compelled to even say anything.
I just don't like it when people are treated with such absolute disrespect. If you knew anything about me, you would know that is just something that I don't tolerate in my personal life. I would stick up for any of you that I felt was being treated poorly.
And to see it here, where everyone is supposed to be friendly and helpful...it's just kinda, I don't know, sad.
Would you argue with your "in-person" friends this way? If an "in-person" friend said, "hey, I don't agree with some of the things I see that might concern you", would you start yelling at them? Would you make fun of them and more or less tell them they are wrong? Would you openly make fun of them with your other friends?
man, I would hope not. I would hope that you are a little more sensitive to their feelings and respect them a little more than that. Trust me, I am really not this sappy. I mean, JeanneD's(that's probably spelled wrong) intentions were honorable. Shouldn't she be treated that way?

Perhaps we need a few more ubb buttons?

How about different coloured fonts or text to point up real meanings?
This whole thread has been about a person expressing a point of view and others either refusing the poster the right to a point of view or misunderstanding the point of view.
I have said it before, I will say it again, it is very hard to read plain text and objectively evaluate it. It is always coloured by the day you had or the insecurities you harbour. This is true of me, you and anyone who can read. It is even harder to read and understand when a person is posting in his/her second language or when their typing and/or grammar skills allow the kind of ambiguities that are so prevalent on these boards.
Lets give everyone a break shall we?
Maybe the term "least said soonest mended" now applies here?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Whoah! JvaGuy, where did that come from? You appear to be awfully frustrated. I'm pretty sure that JeanneD was just talking out loud (I always spell that load first, and then have to change it) when she mentioned the whole stars/posts thing. I wouldn't too much weight on it.
From what I've seen in the forums, you're a pretty nice guy. We have mutual friends and I trust their judgement. I don't think anyone is personally attacking you.

its not limited to forums.
there's 7th & 8th dan (black belts) who know diddly squat, got there by sheer luck; while other genuine "instructors" of a lower order, give and know more and have less ego then their seniors! the clique is seniors band together and have this, i'm better than you, attitude.
anyway before you flame me, thats IMHO.
