Acer and Windows NT 4.0 (NOT!)
If anyone can provide real help on this matter, I would really appreciate it!
Here is the message I recently received from Acer concerning a PCI issue that I have (my name deleted, of course!):
Dear Mr. (),
Thank you for contacting Acer America. Acer does not recommend and will not
support the installation of Windows NT on any Aspire. We have not tested
it, and we have no data and no drivers.
Thank you for using Acer for all your computing needs. We realize you have
a choice of several computing companies and we appreciate the opportunity
to serve you.
Respectfully,
Ronnie Bishop

The solution is simple (maybe ** )) your board is designed to work with win 9X which is a pnp based board.
Win NT does not recognize most (if any with all the patches that have come out) plug n play features. The pci bus may be acting like a pnp feature.
Also if there are any embeded systems (video, audio, etc...) they may work only with pnp and as I stated Win NT does not support PNP.
The same goes for any expansion card (modem, video, sound, etc...
DNRC- let the new world begin.

Hello,
I try to find any info about your board, but I could not. This modem that you have, are you sure is not a "WINMODEM" ?
I have one of this and I know that it does not have a "UART", so it needs the CPU to perform all transfers, which makes it very inexpensive and somehow slow when compare to others. Also it is not supported by DOS or WINDOWS NT, it is for W95/98 - that is why I am asking you. This info is available at http;//kb.indiana.edu/data/aepb.html?cust=2972.
Please post results.
Mac.
