Bandwidth test...
Just curious to see what everyones bandwidth is like.
Results
Your raw speed was 1394137.83 bits per second.
There are 3 meaningful ways we can interpret this number:

If he's using it, yes.
And if your neighbors have it and are using it, yes.
People down the street, yes...

you're joking right?? Your test measured you at 1.4mbs Around here the cable bandwidth is capped and the highest they are selling is 768kbs. A lot of people would die for that speed.

DIR are you one of these need for speed kiddies or do you actually pay for a better connection than that?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Don't know how much cable is in other parts of the country (world) but here in mansfield, OH i get that bandwidth for 40 bucks a month, including the modem.
Seems like a good deal to me...

When I see numbers like 1Mb/s and the person is complaining about it being too slow I just want to...(making a strangling motion). Where I live, I have to pay $75.00 for IDSL (ISDN-like DSL). Yep. That's right. A whopping 144Kb connection. Woohoo!!!
To get anywhere close to 1Mb/s speeds, I would have to shell out $500.00 per month for a SDSL connection. Thank you Sprint.
You might be asking yourselves "Don't they at least have cable there?" and the answer is yes we do. However, the cable company has changed hands 3 times in the last 3 years. Just when we think we'll have cable modem access the cable company switches hands and it all starts over. No cable modems for at least 6 more months, if then.
"Darnit! That 600MB file took a whole hour to download."
That's too bad. I feel your pain. NOT!!!!
It would take me 10 hours to download that much data and that's if my ISP doesn't steal some bandwidth for their abundant crop of dialuppers.
I hope this didn't come off as a flame. It was intended to be a venting of anger towards my towns incredible lack of foresight and not directed at anyone on this forum. I can only dream about the bandwidth you guys can get.
