Well, I've only been at my job for a little over 3 months now. About a month ago I took a trip to Australia and I was able to make an agreement with my boss that I would be able to go as long as I didn't take vacation pay for it. Well, the lady in charge of payroll gave me vacation pay for it anyway. Can't go wrong there. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Since I have like 2 days of holidays this year I'm gonna have to make the best of working here during the Summer. I'm going to take a week and come into work wearing shorts and sandals , sporting a cooler and beach chair/umbrella. Then I'll sit around under the florescent lights applying sunscreen making sure to apply sunscreen every couple hours. Have a few Coronas, listen to some Bob Marley and relax....

Hmmm, I just tell my boss that I'm going on vacation, then I go. Sometimes theres a whole bunch of begging and pleading but I just tell him that I need it, ask him to get off the ground and then I leave. I don't even like to think about work when I'm on vacation, but it's like no one does anything when I'm away, so I don't go as often as I would like.

Guess I'm pretty lucky.
Including myself, we have two Techs at this facility. Our vacation schedules are maintained in a Public folder and we can take vacation anytime we want, as long as someone's here for coverage.
My boss doesn't care as it's documented on the calendar so he doesn't look like a fool if someone should inquire as to our whereabouts.
"what'dya mean I hosed the whole thing? Is that bad?"

Who wants to go places on your vacation? Hassle, deadlines, schedules, people to meet, packing, unpacking, repacking, travelling, checklists, AARGH! That stuff is for when you're being paid to do it.
My boss let's me have pretty much whenever I want off as long as I warn him a few weeks in advance.
Flash! Don't heckle the supervillain!
