Resolved [RESOLVED] Running a CDROM through an SB16

I"ve just filled up all my IDE ports with hard drives and I want to run my CDROM through the soundblaster but its a very difficult thing to do. Maybe I need a specific brand of CDROM ?

U cannot have more than 4 IDE devices even if you have an extra ide port on your soundcard as the primary and secondary controllers only support a master and primary on each ide port. I.e. two ide devices in the first and two in the second.

you can get an add on controller from SIIG or Promise etc which will give you TWO more ide ports for 4 MORE divices
we have model 32 works fine
gives support for 2 additional floppies so we can have 360 1.2 1.44 and 2mb at the same time

    or go SCSI
