Post What is the best classic PC Game(s)?

Yes, yes, I all know about DOOM, Quake, etc.
But I want to know the consensus on games prior to these. You know, games like Crystal Caves, Pipe Dream, Wolfenstein 3D(predecessor of DOOM), etc.
If life is a mystery, then why all the tragedy???

Before there were first person shooters, I played mostly Sierra point and click adventures. King's Quest 1-6, Space Quest 1-4 (5 sucked, and 6 is more "modern). Hell, I bought a friggin' CD-ROM drive just so I could hear Gary Owens narrate Space Quest 4, which I kinda regretted after about 2 minutes of that stupid *** owl in King's Quest 5.

Then there was also Leisure Suit Larry 1-6. Those games are great, I learned a lot more about women and how to get laid than I ever did from my my dad. Al Lowe is a genius. Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist was also cool.

Scorched Earth.. I played that for at least 10 hours a week. It was great.

SimCity, Test Drive (the original one, before Accolade tried to resurrect it and totally screwed it up!)

I would have to say between Duke Nukem 3d and Civilization.

BUT.... if I had to go back and say video game (regardless of format...) I think River Raid for the Atari 2600 was da stuff!

If it aint broke, TWEAK it!
When in doubt, throw it out!!

WingCommander, the original . . . with the optional full speech pack. You couldn't beat that for true classic. Then you have Karateka and Choplifter, I loved those two games.
    end of line.

You all forget X-Wing and Tie Fighter.
