My direct boss (its -Senectus- actually, if you've seen him posting around lately..) is a legend. Really top bloke, and I cant say enough good things about him, so I wont
Our boss is slightly difficult though, so I spend a great deal of time just avoiding him.

My current employer is definitely the "workaholic" type, but he's usually very fair.
But I tend to resent any situation where I feel that my superiors will not cover my back when I'm out there on the line for them to look good.

The co-owner of my company (could also be considered my boss), who just happens to be my boss' wife, has taken a total of 4 days off in the past three years - period.
That is including Saturday, Sunday and all holidays (Christmas, NewYears, etc). And my boss is not too far behind her. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
They are Indian, and great to work for in case anyone is wondering.

well my bosses are pretty kool.
incase some of you dont know, i quit my tech job and got a closer job at menards to go back to school.
i got four bosses for recieving which is the department i work for and they swear and make fun of us. but they are joking but its funny when they call the other dude a dumb sh!t and WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOING CUP CAKE MOVE YOUR @SS!!!!
they all call me goku just because my hair is straight up now or they call me fireball.
i was thinking of dying the tips of my hair red but my boss said if i did that he will make fun of me everytime he sees me and make my life a living hell.
but when they tell me to do something they leave me alone to finish, so nobody is on my @ss, i just have to make sure i get my work done which isnt really hard.

Lets see, boss in Birmingham, me in Houston. Hear from the boss maybe once or twice every two weeks. Doesn't really ride me on anything as long as I get my stuff done. Only complaint is that my co-worker is preferred over me and I am so bored.

Ever since they started yanin my chain around here none of management will even look me in the eye. One went so far as to look the other way as i walked past him in the hall (he ended up running into a door )
I can win any argument with any computer made yet. Since they really haven't learned to fight back.

My present boss is pretty cool. And my old boss wasn't too bad, a bit gruff, but ok to me.
It was my old boss's boss (owner) that was a raving evil tyrannical biatch from the 9th level of hell. All she would see is our salary every time she looked at the employees. If we stopped to tell a joke to a co-worker, she would gripe!!! I hate her, and I hope she reads this!! Anytime I would make the smallest of mistakes she would always say "this is costing me money". As if I gave a damn!!! I was there for a paycheck, I didn't give two craps about her or her business. I am so glad I left. At least I am at a place now that makes me care if the place does well or not.
She would grip about really stupid things, she would demand me to work late (i was salary with bad pay) & she was the type that repeat everything you would say back to you, even when she had no clue what was being said. She would do it to make it appear she knew exactly what you were talking about. I would sometimes, purposefully say something that was wrong just so she would repeat the same incorrect sentence or phrase. Dumb biatch. I would then correct myself afterwards.
There were times I would see her cross the street, with that stiff (something is in her arse) walk and just visualize a truck smashing into her ... twice. If it happened, I know I would just watch and not even consider picking up the phone to call or help.
Sounds horrible, but there are many others that work/worked their that would totally agree with me.
She is the impiety of PURE WORKPLACE EVIL!!
Worse than Dog-Bert.

I get along really well with my boss and other managers i report to. My boss (like me) is in his 30's and is one of the most progressively-minded tech managers in the company. He is totally hands off and NEVER micromanages. He has also mentored my in areas where I was weak (i.e. project management, time allocation).
My team is running at 150% workload right now. And you never see my managers leaving the office early on friday or taking 2 hour lunches. Many times they are in the office on Saturday and sometimes even dial in from home on Sunday. Its just the nature of the beast. The economy is slowing down again and companies like mine are having to get the job done with fewer people. When you have supportive, open-minded managers it make that problem a little easier to accept.
