A 2001 VW Polo 1.4 16V.

I visited VWVortex.com and posted a question about my car a month ago. Although they helped me, they told me that my car is not sold in the U.S. so they couldn't help any further. Of course, I didn't know that!

you speak only the truth, and you know Lance warren!! ... 3rotor is one of my favourite sites, and methinks that new RX7 he has is going to be a beast pretty soon.

If I *do* pick up an S13 K's silvia, Ive lined up a few options, that would give me about 170+ Kw @ the rear wheels, for about $2500 (AU $$ of course)..

Problem for me, is insurance. Im 20, and after having a bingle in my commodore (read: hitting a tree) insurance companies dont look upon me too nicely..

well, I did ask 'what do you drive'

Lance Warren and I used to have email chats all the time back in the day.
he sent me the very first 3rotor.com stickers almost two years ago.
he's probably long since forgotten me since he launched all the other things on his site.

as for Polos... no
unfortunately we do NOT get that wonderful little car
Id love a Lupo GTi with the 1.6L 16V 125hp engine
reminds me of an updated version of my car

I'm wondering why Polo is not sold in the U.S.A. After all, it's almost the same as Golf. Same performance, almost same engines etc.

I have 2 vw's. I have a '70 model convertible that I am in the process of completely restoring. I am going to beef up the engine from a 1500cc to an 1800cc engine. I also have a 1999 Golf TDI. Not much in the performance department, but it gets around 40-45 miles to the gallon or about 500 miles to a tank. Those of you not familiar with the TDI model, it is a 1.9 liter turbo diesel. I bought the 99 in January of 99 when the new body style was introduced and not all of the VW dealerships carried them yet. When I bought it, there were only 5 in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area and I was the first to get one of those 5. I almost got into a few wrecks because people swerved into my lane trying to look at the new styling of the new line of VW's. I especially like the blue and red lights in the dash. Now-a-days, the Golf is a dime a dozen

I also am not impressed with the styling of the newer beetles. It is a sacrilige. A beetle engine in the front?? Also the concept of the beetle was to make an absolutely affordable car for the people, but try to find a new beetle that is lower than $17,000. not affordable if you ask me. I would never buy a new beetle nor would I give one to a friend. Also, new beetle owners are snobs, whenever you are driving a beetle, it is customary to flash the peace sign when you pass another beetle owner. On several occasions, I have passed a new beetle while in the 70 convert. and 9 times out of 10, they brush you off or look at you like you are retarded.

Beetles are wikkid little motors - but then again so are Minis.

I was tempted to buy a Corrado VR6 Storm, but then went for a Lancia Delta Integrale (8v) instead. I'm gonna keep that and get myself a TVR Cerbera 4.2 in a year or two.

Skylines are very nice cars, but to be honest, I prefer the looks and engine noise of a TVR.

Im hoping for an R33 GTS-T Skyline, but if we cant spring for that, it'll be a Nissan Silvia, or an early 90's Ford XR8.

I dream of Skylines. To bad we can't get them here in the US. Other than to have it shipped from Japan.

A Rabbit is a lower end model car. Similar to the Jetta of the mid to late Eighty's. This is before the Jetta was transformed to a fairly decent car. I used to have a 89 Fox. Bottom of the line, and looked just like the 88-90 Jetta, but was much lower in performance and options.

doesnt meet DOT crash standards... even though its one of the safest cars in Europe and actually surpasses DOT crash standards...
plus, they dont think it will sell well
small hatchbacks dont sell well in a country where the HUGE 6mpg SUV roams

as for the guy with the Lancia... I envy you...
my favorite car ever was the Lancia Delta Integrale 16V Evo 2 Cat. I always wanted one like that
your 8V is still damned fast though, and didnt the 8V have dual exhausts?
