More Microsoft Big Brother stuff
A guy came into the shop today and showed me a site that access satellite photos: http://terraserver.microsoft.com
I put in my city and state in the search, and was able to get a zoom-in of my house. It was detailed enough to see the small chimney for our wood-burning stove. Cool... but creepy.
I also found my in-laws house, and the vet's office (I worked on a printer there today). Has anybody else been able to find their house or work?
My office is the white building in the middle of this picture (across the street from a bigger dark grey rectangle with a dirt lot behind it): http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.c...20797&Z=16&W=1

I also found my house, but I wouldn't say it was "More Microsoft Big Brother Stuff" -- the satellite pictures are from the USGS (United States Geologic Survey)

COOL!!!
I CAN SEE MY HOUSE!!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
My house is is about 1 1/2 inches southeast of the center. I am on the first road (going left to right) that does not go all the way through. I am the 2nd to the last house on my street. It is the dark roofed one w/the biggest yard.

Here is another shot (smaller pic....but not so many homes). If you go to the center, go 3/4 inch left & 3/4 inch down that is my house. It has a dark roof. On my screen it is just above the "100m" measurment mark.

I've used that before. It's kinda creepy, you can just barely make out the lines down the middle of the road! <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">
I live on the cul-de-sac near the center of the image at http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.c...18366&Z=11&W=2

There's something (probably a car) in my driveway but can't tell what kind (mine stays inside when I'm home). If I could only zoom in a little more I could maybe figure out exactly when that pic was taken....

Actually, I think the one for Mapquest is a little better. I like the color.
This is where I grew up all my life.

Looked at this a while back. Did you know it is run on an MS 2k SQL base? MS and Compaq got together to do a technology test. For a while it was THE largest database anywhere. I don’t know if that is still true.
Anyway, I found my house, by noticing the guy next door’s driveway. He pressure washes it with bleach or something every year. Keeps it bright and white. I haven't told him bout this yet cause I don't know if it would freak him out. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I know this site since 1998. I was able to see my house back then, but now they only show photos from the U.S.
