Post Pioneer DVD Drive that wont read normal CDROMs

I have a Pioneer DVD-ROM Drive (DVD-105s - Unbranded, 16x, Slot load), which read DVD movies perfect, but not normal cds (read problem being, if you start copyiong files, after a short amount of time it has read errors). I have tried it in 4 different systems, and have gotten two replacement drives.
Eventually i just put an old cd reader in my system tro read cds on, but if anyone knows of a solution to the problem, it would be appeciated.
    Thanx,

When you say reading cd's, do you mean to copy, i.e. blindwrite etc, for cd burning, if it is you drive is ok, some of these cd copiers like clone etc will only work with certain drives, if you put data cd's in it and it can see them it is ok
