I have successfully left the technology field!!!
I finally did it!! I left my sh*t job and I am finally pursuing a dream career. I am going to culinary school to be a chef and I am only going to work with computers as a hobby. I finally got fed up with all of the corporate bullsh*t that I had to put up with and after a lot of soul searching, I quit my job. I was not happy doing what I was doing, Managing the Tech Support and Testing department where I formerly worked. Culinary Arts has been a passion in my life for a longtime and the only thing that has held me back was the cost of the schools, but since I was making a killer salary working as a corporate slave, I saved up enough to live on while working part-time. I feel so much better now that I know that I don't have to deal with boneheaded (l)users.

DigiFuge - Well done, I know a lot of people who have changed careers to work with computers, all hoping to make a quick buck (boy, did they get shot down in flames....) But never the other way around.
So, are you going to setup a website with all your receipies & culinary tips? "The Techs guide to cooking perhaps".

Hey! I'll have you know it takes an awful lot to get me steamed.
Congratulations, and good luck in your new career. My wife's an amateur chef and she loves being in the kitchen--I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as she does!

Best of luck to you. I'll just be glad to change industries right now. When you're ready to interview, make sure to do a 'survey' trip to the company that is hiring. Ask the employees how they like it there. Better yet.. look at how they act. Don't get stuck in a nowhere company that keeps the little guy down psychologically as well as financially.
If cooking is your passion, you'll do great!
Stress.... The uncontrollable urge to choke the living $417 out of someone who desperately needs it.
Ignorance.... The inherent capacity to demand of someone else that which one is too lazy to learn/perform for one's self.
User....An individual who, through immense proportions of ignorance, create stress.

You should change your custom status to "Chef in Training" - Hey how many stars for "New Chef" or "Chef God"?
Congrats on your career move!

Good luck to you. If there are any casinos or other high class "leisure" businesses near you, you can get in there and make good money. You might have to apprentice for a few months, but it might be worth it.
If you plan on moving in the long run, and there are the casinos, etc. nearby, then getting the apprenticeship stuff is great because you can be referred from within the same company if it is big.
Good Luck.
God is all knowing, I am just human.

I am not leaving Windrivers, it is too much fun here. I will still work on computers, but not as a career, as a hobby. I have been wanting to do this for a while now and I finally bit the bullet and applied.
Maybe I'll take that advice and add some recipes and stuff for the techies out there. Thank you for all the nice words and support!!

Congradulations to you and best wishes. The day is much better when you enjoy what you are doing to make a living or pass the time. Lots of people never find that out, or find out to late to have it mean something to their lives. If the chef thing doesnt work out, go for something else. BTW, re the puter thing, a good hobbyist practices the hobby for the enjoyment it brings, and in all honesty, many of the really big discoveries have been made by hobbiests in the electronics field. Keep your hand in, you may find a new enjoyment away from the professional side of the business.

Hey? Why is my computer prompting me if I would like to accept a cookie? Is it Oatmeal or Chocolate Chip?
