You missed nothing amc. I'm not implying that I learned jack about warez up here. The rules say no and I abide by it. If you can't you need to go (not you, but people who can’t follow the rules in general). I didn't mean to say that the boards ever taught me about hacking either. There was just a little section under the news that had links to some really nice hacking sites that didn't pop up a million porn links.

I only like learning about the nefarious side of computing as it helps keep me more secure than the next guy. Knowledge is power.

Oh, by the by – Everyone leave off Road Warrior. He didn’t say anything bad, just made an observation. I happen to think that he was fairly accurate.

Cant we all just get along? I wish this was all just a big joke.

The average IQ up here is something like 140. You would think that we could all get along, but it doesn't appear to be so.

Effin' sad really.

I used to try and help a lot of people. Most were gracious and thankful when the suggested fix actually worked. Once in awhile, however, somebody ragged me to the point where I had to ask myself, "Is posting really worth it?"

Each person must answer that question themselves...

What is with the "kick me harder" remark...and what is with the "Censorship Sucks" remark. It appears that someone has sore feelings at a moderator.

To the road warrior this clique you mentioned is news to me...I registered here in May 2001 and have found that I am most welcome at Darrens and Cobras site. The only problem has been with idiots as with WD but that is quickly stamped on and much more affectively than here in the past. Cobras and Darrens site has become a very interesting and blooming website with unique ideas and forethought.
It is not for everybody that is why Freedom of expression is part of the theme and why you are not forced to investigate and view the site.
So if you are a boring hung up person please do stay away.
Back to Windrivers. The personality clashes and dogfights for positioning was getting out of hand. After a time of very regular chat room participation I would be award OP status quite often one reasion being I am in Australia and at times there was a need for Australian ops due to time differences. Burnfest also carries out this task with distiction. Mostly people did not have a problem with this as I am friendly and have no problems with anyone. But soon some started bitching and whinging saying they were there first.
Maybe if those people had carried themselves with dignity and pride they too would have been awarded op's long ago. And for the ones who already had op's and bitched... well how childish and jealous was that.
After I started to post on Cobras and darrens site I still posted here and still contributed in the chat room. I still received op status off many mods. Then it started I received a Pm off another female member of WD chat room calling me the IRC HO. that person will remane nameless. This was the height of childishness petulance and downright rudeness. Soon even though still supportd by the majority of the chatroom a certain few individuals made it very uncomfortable with nasty comments and the like. So I didn't bother any more its that simple. It has turned into a circus here. I have utmost respect and honour for many of the wd mods and users. It is such a shame the few ruin it for the many. Guests are quite often left without answers to their problems as the children are to busy being silly in the chatroom.
Anyway I am afraid with the departure of the tech Gods Darren Wilson and Cobra along with all the rest of the so called clique Windrivers has lost part of its soul.
Darren and Cobra andd all the "CLIQUE" Rock and always will....
and their website will make them famous..So I am sorry that a few of you have the attitude you do......

I have done this a couple of times before to othet users and usually sent them the link to the rules page in a reply. I never had anyone freak out on me yet.
Or should I not do this MODS?
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

After finding this out I can't really be f#@ked posting tech support anymore. I don't mind helping out fellow techs when I can though.

It is a shame that Darren took all of his knowledge away with him, as well as his genuine and helpfull attitude. Obviously, everyone will miss such a class act.

P.S. I don't really understand why everyone just jumped on Road Warrior.

I am sorry to see Darren, Cobra and the others take off. Darren totally rocked as a MOD. Cobra was damn funny and I am still trying to find out everyone that left.

On the other point, and I hate to be harsh about it, we need to act like Men and Women here. We have in the past (there is nothing wrong with getting a little goofy now and then) and we will in the future. The rules are not hard to follow. In fact I have NEVER read the rules but I know I have never broken them. It is common sense and the people that lack the common sense need to find a site that doesn't adhere to rules or guidelines. As for people like Insane Monkey: Take a hike! Your type of abrasive behavior is not welcome. It's a crummy thing that people like that can drive away some awesome people. Let's take a lesson from it and not let it happen for so long or at all in the future.

Road Warrior, I haven't the slightest idea why you were picked on in this post. I've been around here for a while and I saw the "race" to get to Tech God status by certain members. They know who they are. Ridiculous.

Simple solution to all the problems, stay out of the chatroom--chatting bytes anyways.

Maybe Scott should think about killing the Tech Lounge--I don't remember half of this crap happening before the lounge was created.

The whole point of the tech lounge was to have a place for the off-topic posts that worked their way into the Tech Tales forum. I've said this before and I'll say it again: when the lounge was created, extra mods were brought on board to keep a lid on things in the new tech lounge. I believe the mods do a fine job but I don't think anybody ever expected the lounge to be such a hit. Over time, the limits of what was acceptable in the lounge were pushed. When somebody finally realized it was getting out of hand and said, "We need to stop, this is going too far" then the stuff hit the fan. As one of the initial supporters of the Lounge, I feel like I have some responsibility for the monster that was created, and it ended up destroying a lot of friendships in the process. I am truly sorry that bonds were broken over a bunch of what I see as trifle issues, and that the whole point of these forums was forgotten:

REAL PEOPLE HELPING REAL PEOPLE.

Behind all those pixels on your screen, there is a real person that created them. A real person with feelings. Let's put aside everything else and keep focused on that.

Hey MacGyver I wasn't trying to blame anyone, hell you are the last person to blame for this mess, your posts are always very informative and never "useless".
