The government knows what we look at on the Internet!!!
I thought this was pretty funny considering the hidden camera topic in "Tech Tales". For some reason right after I read that topic, every now-and-then a pop-up screen comes up advertising a "Tiny Wireless Video Camera". Do you think the government or the company making the camera knew that I read that topic, and they are making the ad pop-up? Don't worry... I'm not really that paranoid...
Here's the ad.
How do I get rid of this? I've already tried running adware. I'm going to clean out my cookies to see if that gets rid of it. It's not really popping up from a certain website, just randomly.

Don't worry, it's not just you. I've been getting that one alot lately on many different websites. I don't think it's the government though,... I think it's the aliens.

It is from X10. They sell these little wireless cameras. Or maybe it is really looking through your monitor at you....
That's why I turn my TV around when I sleep, so "they" can't see me. Remember, you're not paranoid if they really ARE out to get you....

There are 2 cookies on your computer generated from x10.com
Delete those, and you'll get rid of the popups. The cookies are generated from ads placed on certain websites, so it isn't based on anything suspicious...having this ad on your computer simply means you were checking out child pornography. (kidding) lf you're worried about the government tracking you, which they are, disable cookies and java and javascript, so you can view sites for their content and not little swirly text effects
PS: l'd be more worried about Carnivore and Interpol than an adbanner.

If you use NetZero it is the NetZero software forcing the ad to pop up. You can make it stop, but NetZero will quit also

I'm sure Carnivore and Interpol and CSIS and the CIA and the IRS and the BATF and Columbia House Records and maybe the Jehovah's Witnesses as well (or else why would they keep coming to MY door?) all have big, thick files on me by now. But I'm not worried, because I can't understand how any of these organizations could possibly consider me a priority. I'm just not a big fish in any kind of criminal or financial pond. Money makes the world go round. I have none, nor am I trying to do anything illegal to get lots. So why would they bother with me?
