    Talking Favorite Anime/ Anime Fans?

While we are on the topic of Movies, what about Anime Movies and Series?
I have to admit it, I'm an Anime junkie. Most the anime I've seen blows away the vast bulk of the crap Hollywood churns out. Characters have depth, are complex and there aren't always nauseatingly simplistic fixes and happy endings. (damn i sound like a cynic)
These are my favorites. What one's do you all like?
    1. Galaxy Express 999:
    2. Arcadia of my Youth:
    3. Naussica (Known in the US as "Warriors of the Wind")
    4. Rouruni Kenshin OVA 1-4(in US "Samurai X" ) This anime was the most gut/heart wrenching stories I've seen in years...based loosely in real events. (Also a Manga)
    5. Berserk: an excellent Manga made into an excellent anime, and awesome story and a character with a sword that makes Cloud in FF look like a wet squirrel holding a toothpick.
    6. Tenchi: (damn I said it, oh well I've liked Tenchi since '98.)
    7. Nadeisco
    8. Evangelion
    9. Akira
    10.Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke)

Probably my favorite is Princess Mononoke. Saw it three or four times in the theatres, then bought the soundtrack and the DVD.

Ruin Explorers, Dominion: Tank Police, and Project A-ko were fun as well.

I was very disappointed by the Blue Submarine No. 6 DVD's, only about 30 minutes worth on each $25 disc.

I've been a fan of anime since Speed Racer broke me in. My Currant favourites are:

    1. Sanctuary - The Manga, Anime, and live action were all great.

    2. Princess Mononoke - OMG what a great movie! I happened to catch the english version on Cable the other day and watch it for the first time. Gillian Anderson as Moro the wolf was incredible! I can't wait to get the DVD and Japanese Version!

    3. Kiki's Delivery Service - Great story. Love Jiji the cat! same creator as Princess Mononoke, Hayao Miyazaki.

    4. My Neighbor Totoro - Another great story by Hayao Miyazaki.

    5. Akira - What more can be said about the greatest movie of all time?

    6. Serial Experiment: Lain - Spooky X-Files/Anime. A welcome change from the frenetically paced anime.

    7. Crying Freeman - Again, the Manga, anime, and live action were all very cool!

    8. Batman Beyond - Return of teh Joker - I know, it's not anime, but it is anime inspired and the closest American anmiation can get to being Anime.

    9. Coboy Bebop - Hilariously great!

    10. Strain - Manga right now, Don't know about anime.

Forgot about Dominion: Tank Police!! I love the cat sisters!! Also Project A-Ko, Appleseed, and Black Magic:M-66 were very cool!

Grave of the Fireflies: is also one of the best under-rated animes.
Record of the Lodoss War OVA: THIS is what the D&D movie SHOULD have been like.
Vampire Hunter D: how did I forget to put this one in?
Angel Sanctuary: tripped me out, kinna a bit like the Prophesy.
Ah Megami-Sama! the Movie: reminded me a lot of angel sanctuary.

Lain, Kenshin, Escaflone, Evangelion, Beebop, Nadesko, Captin Tylor, all the Bublegum crisses and crash, Ranma, Macross Plus, Key the Metal Idol, Armatage III and Gunsmith Cats.

My favorate has to be Battle Angel (ALTA), if you get the chance pick up the original Manga! I think the graphic novels are still in print. The movie is just the start!!!!!

Hmmm, I remember everyday after school watching a cartoon a long time ago called, "Voltron". It's not really a movie, but I think it counts. And I liked watching Transformers and Gobots cartoons as well.

Yeah Lycia, when I saw Grave of the Fireflies I felt nearly the last little bit of faith in humanity I had, wither away a tad more..It IS a great great Movie, from a point of view I had not seen before *what was happening to the ordinary Japanese citizen at the height of the war* but it still made me want to crawl under the carpet, but no more so than Shindler's List.

If you like that honor/duty and tragedy genre , the Rouruni Kenshin 4 part DVD is excellent. I had to watch it twice all the way through the first time I saw it to make sure I didn't miss anything when I'd get too choked up. The TV series of Kenshin is good, but the OVA I can't reccomend enough.

You guys liked Vampire Hunter D?

    Mononoke Hime
    Akira
    Ghost in the Shell

Can't believe nobody said Naussica - Oh, wait there it is in the 1st post, let me amend this a little... Can't buy it anymore. Real shame. It was done by the guy who made Mononoke and looked awesome and had a story with the same sort of story (multiple people vying for something and nobody is really pointed out directly as a bad/good guy).

Anybody else get the japanese subtitled versions before the english versions because you know they will be better or have a different story?
