User Login Name
Why is it that every time WinXP Pro starts, it places "User" in the user name line instead of the last person's name who logged on? That's the way WinNT/2K always works...what am I doing wrong?

M$ probably did that in an effort to improve security. This way if someone turns your terminal on, they don't just have to guess your password, they also have to already know your username if they attempt to hack in.

If it really bothers you, go into Local Security Policy, Local Policy, Security Settings, and change the setting for "Do Not Display last user name in logon screen."
But, as Clammy previously stated, it's setup that way for security, so change the setting at your own risk.

I suppose that security could be the reason, but the dinks allow you to set a check box that will bypass the login altogether, which is probably what most people will do. WinNT/2K always had a feature that allowed you to clear the username...they should have stuck with that here...
