Pioneer 107D recognises cd's but not Dvd

when i almost completed my burn session my pioneer stopped recognising Dvd's
it won't even recognise comercial Dvd or even Dvd lens cleaner.
I used a cd cleaner instead but that did not cure the problem.
There was no reason for it to suddenly stop as i was using the same disks throughout the session and now like i said it wont recognise dvd's of any sort.
Any help would be much appreciated..

Unfortunately, the most likely cause for your problem is failure of the DVD section of the dual laser in your drive. This is a fairly common occurrence and the fact that it was writing a disk at the time suggests the laser simply died at that point. Being able to run the CD cleaning disk, but not have it recognise the presence of the DVD one makes it pretty certain the fault is in the drive. With the low cost of drives, once they're out of warranty it's not practical to try to repair them or even investigate to prove for certain if it's the laser or some other part of the circuitry.

Oh' well, i ordered a new one last night i hope the pioneer 109 will be better,

Hope you have better luck with this one. Pioneer have a good reputation, but lasers have a certain number of burning hours, some just come up shorter than others.
