    Resolved [RESOLVED] cd-rom

I am having a similar problem with my cd-rom to some other folks. The light doesnt come on Exploreer says the device is not ready pcdr says no data found, but the system check says the item is working properly.I took the cover off today and tried some of the previous suggestions. No luck.If any body has any ideas to fix it great(I can use it another copm.) Otherwise I have purchased a
digital Research IDE 48x, my current one is a 24x any problems I might anticipate?

    Try to clean (disk cleaner),
try to check the data cables (may be them plugged off),
try to change IDE place (primary/secondary),

does it play any music disks?

    Otherway... comes your CD's end...

If your r. cable seems not good - change it. Sometimes it happens (suddenly). Buy a new one.
If your CD is sitting on the same c. with the HDD and works fine, leave the HardDisk alone, and plug CD to the 2-nd IDE with a new cable.
