Post Error: Windows - Delayed Write Failed

I have an ABIT KT7a-RAID with no arrays but a 45 GB Maxtor on one channel and an 80 GB Maxtor on the other channel. Every once in a while I get this error:

Windows - Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the data for the file xxxx. The data has been lost...

When I click OK or X then another window with the same message (different program) pops up until I reboot. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem? I just installed the lastest drivers from Highpoint so I will see if that fixes it but since the problem is intermittent I don't have any real way of testing the resolution. I am also not using a page file but have 512 MB and haven't ever reached its limit. I googled around but couldn't find anything helpful. Hopefully someone has some pointers of where to check now.

Just in case, it may not be the problem, but download powermax from www.maxtor.com and put it on a bootlable disk. Maybe take your hd's off the highpoint controller and onto the regular ide controller because powermax might not see them properly on that controller.

use powermax to do a quick and thorough test to see if any errors get detected. hope this helps.

I have an 80 gig maxtor - its flakey to say the least.. I used the diags as maxtor says to do, and it recertified the drive, 3 days later, same thing again.

The messages may be related to temp files being created.

Have you looked in the event viewer?

I just got the drive the other day. What is going on here? I had multiple IBM drives die on me in succession and figured my old Maxtor didn't have any problems so I'd go with them. I'll check with the diag disk in a little while.

Here's one of the fifty (or more) error messages:

Would the 80 gig maxtor be harddisk 2 drive d by chance?

    \Device\Harddisk2\D

Those are the exact errors I am having, except mine is the first hard drive.

    Better get those diags going....
