    Red face XP and Win2K not talking nice. . .

    I'm having a problem with my install of WinXP Pro. I got the computer added to the domain, but it isn't running my login scripts which run on my win98 machines. When I try to browse the network, explorer stops responding for minutes, and then it gives me a directory listing. Is there any way to speed this up? I can't wait 10 minutes for my MP3 collection to populate, and I don't feel like manually mapping drives everytime I logon. Please help, those of you with XP networking experience.
    end of line.

    Yep, turn off a couple of things, open my computer, tools, options, view, uncheck automatically search for network folders and printers, and then go to the offline file tab and disable that.

    Then open up the Registry and go to :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace

    Under that branch, select the key :

    {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}

    right click it and select "Delete"

    This turns off looking for scheduled tasks too.
    Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    You definitely need to bookmark <a href="http://www.tweakxp.com" target="_blank">www.tweakxp.com</a> , Kymera.

    Also do a search in this forum for a topic titled "<a href="http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=38&t=000716" target="_blank">Windows XP Links</a>" - I started a thread a while back that has all sorts of cool Windows XP sites.

    If it reverted back, system restore probably helpfully put that key back for you.

    Mac yes TweakXP is a great site, but I actually got that from the first one on google, because I never remember the bloomin name of the tweak <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

    Don't forget to remove QoS from the network, from what I hear, that'll definatly slow you down.

    What protocols are you using? And what order are they binded in?
    If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0
