MSN Messenger
How do I get rid of this stupid Program I,ve deleted it every where I can find and It still comes up in the task bar after every boot.
I have done it before but can't remember how and it's not in the add and remove list.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Don't see preferences tab. but if you mean Advanced tab that option is not there in I.E. 6.0.
Also I would like to rid my Systtem of the Program not only disable it.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

If you're using XP then you can get uninstall instructions at www.tweakxp.com
Make sure you look at the options menu in MSN Messenger, not in IE.

go into the windows/inf folder and open sysoc.inf in notepad...find msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,HIDE,7
delete the hide so it looks like....
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7
save it....reboot...go into add/remove programs...windows components and msn messenger should be listed there now....uncheck it and apply it....
I think Darren previously posted this but I couldn't find the old post.
