Post IIS - Internet Information Server

I don't know if this is the right forum for this post, but I'll try anyway.

I have been told that we need to update our IIS server with the new M$ patch that just came out, there's one for IIS 4.0, 5.0 and 5.1. How do I find out what version mine is? If you type the server name in a browser, it takes you to the NT 4.0 Option Pack page and shows that it included IE4.0 and IIS4.0. I'm pretty sure its been upgraded since then.

Any ideas?

I wanted to figure the same thing out this morning after I saw the update on Windrivers main page.

Goto C:\WINNT\System32\inetsrv\ and look at the version of iisadmin.dll or any of the other iis related apps there. I'm only assuming this works because it worked for me. All of mine were 5.0.x.

NT = IIS 4
Win2k = IIS 5
XP = IIS 5.1

That's funny because Windows XP is considered Windows version 5.1.

Mine shows up as version 4.2.720.1
so apparently it is still 4.0, but yet I was right and we have upgraded it before.

Thanks for the help!

if your on win2k or higher... http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com will have it listed as an update
if you on NT 4 than your IIS isn't 5.0 or higher
