Alright, I tried it anyway, I'm recently backed up. It wouldn't install though. It said it needed to reboot because I had older files (not likely). After the reboot it didn't do anything, I ran it again and it said the same thing. My OS is windows 2000.

BTW, if you deleted *.$$$ on my system, it's a bad thing. When I edit UBB files with my editor, I keep the *.$$$ files incase I have a problem and need to restore back.

My program does not delete these files by default, you have to enable the "Unrequired files" option for it to delete *.$$$ files.
Did you try the program? How much space did it save?
Thanks

I haven't tried the program because I usually reload my system twice a year. Too much programming sometimes causes system instability

mmmm that program appears to have killed my win98se install.
on reboot I was told that msvcrt.dll was missing links and that I had to reinstall due to "an error in Explorer"
well, I now have a clean install (again)
(even installing over the top of current system wouldn't work.)
couldn't even get safe mode to work to run sfc.
any ideas?

So now you know why I was so scathing earlier, clickhere will no doubt have a fit now, but that's numpty programmers for you....
Never ever install a program you ain't sure about without a backup first....
So FDISK and start again & oh don't trust someone who writes a file cleaner progie & then has to ask what's safe to delete... something tells me he ain't figured it out yet...

Sorry but microsoft makes the setup program so any problems the instalation causes are due to microsoft and not my programming.
