What's the best way to recover a dying hard drive? n/m
Anyone with any special tech's to recover or help salvage a dying hard drive?

I have heard the spinrite will help you get your data. As far as physically salvaging the drive, I have not heard of anything that will reverse physical damage.

Are you trying to recover data off the drive or just resurrect a malfunctioning drive?

What are You mean saying about "dying HDD"?
Some bad sectors,wont spin up at all,or something else? All these problems have different solutions,though.

if it clicks and won't boot...and you REALLY REALLY want the data off of it, ice the thing! No, I'm not BSing, put the thing in the freezer for a day or 2, then pop the bad boy in, and pray you get that 1 last boot so you can get the data off...worked fer me! twice!

I too have two dying HDD's - both 2.2 gig seagates - the freezer worked for me - AMAZING - thanx Fubarian for that
