Iomega's New Removable Drive: Peerless - Buy or No Buy
If any of you have heard of the new drive that Iomega has released, then you might think it's a bit interesting. For those of you who haven't, well read on.
Yeah, it may be a bit early to make any solid judgement on the drive, but heck, what are everyone's opinons?
Just for reference, here are the BASIC specs:
- FireWire, USB 1.0 (and soon 2.0), and SCSI interface
15 MB/second sustained transfer rate
10 and 20 Gigabyte disks (your choice on one drive)
Those are really the bare bones.
Personally, I think the drive won't be all that bad. Heck, 10 or 20 GB disks are probably enough for many home users, and the transfer rate is not all that bad (so says Iomega), IMHO. But, personally, I'll just wait and see.
So what are your opinions people?

I can only think of a previus Product from Iomega - the Jazz.
for it's time - it had Good data Transfer rate, 1G, when most drives were 2G to 4.3G....
Oooooooyes - and some guys had to replace it every month or so Du to a very hi faliure Rate.

i would not recommend iomega products to anyone. their back up is cr*p, their support do not answer questions... and basically the product is "cheap & nasty".
there! thats better!

USB devices do not work under DOS, therefore, there are no drivers, and never will be.

Transfer rates are fast for FireWire but painfully slow for USB 1.0.
I have a maxtor 80 gig Firewire, no it isn't very portable (Requires extra power source and is moderately big) but it is fast and does the job
Depending on your needs, look into that also
But as much as i never liked Iomega stuff, Peerless is a good idea.
