    Post A general gamer question

How long do you expect or think or experience your mouse or trackball or whatever you use to last.... Especially if you are playing games hard core??

I am beginning to wonder if my trackball is in need of replacing....

I guest I never thought about that in the past. That is probly why I don't like balled mouses any more. let alone that the opticals are better, in my veiw.

I bet you'd swap it for the Logitech Freedom Navigatore Optical desktop set up...
Cordless mouse (optical) and keyboard, very VERY nice... Just the right amount of multimedia and internet keys, mouse is great.
Mouse batteries last about 3-4 months though, thats the only downer..

    (Time to get some rechargables!)

Well, when I worked at Staples, I bought our "demo unit" Logitech trackman (I think thats what it called - teckball that you moved with your thumb).
No ball, no software, cable was bent (and not in a way its supposed to bend) etc... but for $10 not too bad.

I bought a ball, aoftware (still unopened) for about $20 from logitech.

That thing lasted me over 3 years! The only reason why I stopped using it was so I could upgrade to a wireless mouse. I still use it today as a tester mouse. Works better than anything I've ever had. Well, excpet my cordless optical mouse..

I THINK I may have found the problem with this trackball.... the software.

I installed the software for it (again) recently. I just unistalled it today and remembered I had it installed at one time and uninstalled it and played that way for the longest time.

im using just a regular ms wheel mouse optical, been using it for over a year, and never had any problems.

The only problem I have with my optical mouse is that it seems to move "pixelated", when i move it diagonally it "steps", if you can get what I'm trying to say. I think that this is because it's first generation technology, but it's not too bad.
So, so busy lately. Oh, where do I start?

i use the intellimouse explorer, the original grey one with 2 thumb buttons, a scroll wheel and its optical of course...you know what im talking about.

its lasted me since i first bought it 3 years ago. the usb cable went bad, so i switched out the cable with a microsoft usb ball mouse that i had laying around, and it works great still today. but im thinking about going the next explorer version, the wireless one thats a bit more sleek and has another thumb button....

I just had a problem with my 3 dollar mouse (2 years old), took it apart, took the hair, and dust bunnines off of the light sensors (i have a ball mouse, but i belive that all mice use some sort of light to see when they move, well that's the area i cleaned up).....runs like new now...it used to jump, and not move at all, but hey i thought that the 3 dollars was finally gone....

im a cheapo so i dont look for the high price tag mouse or stuff, for some reason they end up dying on me.

i found this good deal at microcenter on a ps2 optical mouse for 16 bucks, this was a while ago so far its working pretty good i dont have any issues with it.
