Microsoft Blunder with SP3?
I have read somethings that mentioned that yesterday Microsoft's Windows Update Website had SP3 for a few hours, but was then removed. Anyone have any information about this? From what I have read it seems to be either posted to early or they soon found a major flaw with it and then removed it. Also have read that it may have just been a beta. So I am guessing that if anyone is a Beta tester on here for Microsoft, you maybe the best to answer this question.
Needless to say, if anyone out there find a supposed sp3 file use it with caution. If it is a beta use it on a test machine.

had service pack 3 RC3.51 for several months now .
Yes i did d/load it from a site ,,,,and it has now dissapeared.
it is 110m and on a 56k modem , took a long time.
when i am finished loading 2k on my machines , i just load the cd ,,,,and it does all the updates ,,therefor i do not have to waste several hrs d/loading from microshaft.
several machines here are not connected with modems or network cards ,, so i find this CD very helpful.
I am sorry I cannot give you the name of the site , or host the files,
as 2k is comming to the end of its life span (as discussed on those forums) ,,i wonder if microshaft will "actually" release it.

As they did with SP7 for WinNT4.
They even had the gall to issue a SRP instead, just to cover their own butts in case of litigation, but no "official" SP release was ever made.

Just had this in if its of any help:
Finally it is out!
SP3 can be downloaded from the MS download servers!
So start testing and get this on your systems, cause it fixes and prevents alot.
Official sp3 page is still down while writting this letter.
German version is also there, other languages will follow.
Good luck,

124 FREAKING MEGABYTES!!!
This'll take a while. Oh well, I'll try it and see how things run. I've been thinking of reloading with XP pro anyway. If there IS a big problem with sp3, that'll be what gets me going

Thanks Archer!
I had been looking all over the MS site trying to find it, and couldn't see it anywhere. Maybe it did get pulled for bugs?? Although I do know a few people that have been running it for a day or two with no hassles.
will let everyone know if i have any hassles

Hmm, that was lucky, it resumed without the aid of gozilla. Only 6:59 left...
I'm in charge and I say we blow it up
