Question ADSL USB Modem and PS2

I have an ADSL modem that connects to my PC via USB. I also have a Sony Play Station 2 with network adapter. I want to use my DSL connection for poth PC and the PS2, but with my modem being a USB connection, I am unsure how to make this happen with out buying a normal DSL modem that has a RJ45 connection and a router. What I had in mind was using a cross-over cable from my PC to my PS2 and letting my PC be a kind of gateway for the PS2 by sharing the connection, but I am unsure how to make this work. I am using Windows XP, so any help you pros can give me would be great. Thanks!

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
