reliable (and inexpensive) VPN appliance ?
do you have any recommendations ?
should allow up to (at least) 5 simultaneous tunnels for Windows and Mac users
I'm considering to replace a PC solution (Win2k server with ISA software) with a standalone VPN appliance.
I'm also considering to split the VPN and Firewall functionality into two appliances. any thoughts ?
cheers

Define inexpensive...
Well anyway...
I have used SonicWall and Watchguard devices and have had good luck with both of them.
I prefer hardware VPN/Firewall solutions over software (RRAS, etc), but only for the ease of setup and user training.
Let us know if you find another solution that works for you.

Well, as posted by someone else in these forums previously, there's always this from Linksys
which you can config with these instructions
I have no first hand knowledge of either, so past that I can't help ya.
good Luck, and let us know how it turns out.

My buddy set-up a business to business VPN using Linksys VPN routers. I haven't heard anything but good things about them. I like Linksys overall.

I'm using the Linksys VPN routers and so far they work great. I've also used Symantec's Firewall/VPN Appliance which starts at about $500 for the Model 100.

inexpensive for our company would be up to C$1000 / US$625
would you guys buy two devices one for VPN and one for Internet Gateway ? (for redundcancy ? ease of setup ? ... if one fails the other one lives ?)

I would probably get something that combines them in the same device. Dunno why, I just would. Probably ease of setup.
For $625 you're probably going to look at something along the Linksys level. You could probably afford a separate firewall too at that price, albeit a fairly basic one. How many users will be using it (how many behind firewall?)

up to 50 computers going out (Win/Mac/Linux) and about 3 coming in Win/Mac (VPN)
I would probably be able to get up to US$1000 if the hardware solution would outweight the PC software solution already in place (PC & Software worth about US$1500)
