XP Home No option to remember password
I have a user here who is using XP Home and has some weird aversion to typing. For some reason, IE doesn't have the box that one can check to remember a password. Since the login requires the domainname\username format to logon, she doesn't want to have to type it in every time.
Any idea as to why it isn't showing up? I gave up on trying to figure out how the hell XP Home (junk, imo) manages profiles, but maybe it has something to do with that.

Little puzzled here...
Are you asking how to set xp to autologon? Or about how ie saves passwords that you enter on the net? Or the dialup password?
XP home cannot logon to a domain....
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Yeah, these are just passwords in IE for any particular site.
I know it can't logon to a domain (what were they thinking?) but this is independent of that.

for autologin/domain, download Tweakui for XP, run tweakui and check in the login>autologin branch(Yes, you can specify a domain)
for IE, check in tools>Internet Options, Content tab, Autocomplete button, and finaly User names and Passwords on forms

Yeah, Rellik, I tried that password option in IE with no luck. Checked or unchecked it doesn't give ya the box to remember password. The drop-down is there, but it's empty. Weird. Oh well. No more XP Home for anyone.

I've found apossible fix at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, but I can't test it out right now.
It's a VBS script you can download here.
I haven't scanned it for viruses, FYI.

Wow lots of stuff there. Thank ya Adept. Not much elaboration on what everything does, though.
Always good to know it's not just a problem isolated to me.

Glad you like it.
