    screen capture

I got a strange one here.

I need to get a screen capture of teh window that appears when yuo hit ctrl, alt,del in Win2k.

problem is, when yuo hit those keys, yuo ain't in Windows anymore and software like snagit can't capture anything.

    any clues?

I find a pen and paper works well to record the error message on the screen. Otherwise maybe take a picture with a digital camera.

What exactly are you trying to capture? Maybe the data you're looking for is in an error log somewhere.

I'm trying to get screen shots of actual thiings that users will see when loggin in and out and things like that.

It's for the tech writer here that is making this big users guide to all the new security policys.

specifically, the screen the appears when you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL in Win2K

You're never going to get a screen shot of that, it's part of NT security that once you hit CTRL ALT DEL no other programs are going to run (a keylogger for example) because we don't want passwords being stolen, now do we?

One option you can look at is reading through the MS manual, maybe they have a picture of the thing you want, you can scan it into your computer, and modify as required.

Using a remote session and then taking a screen shot should work.

I was able to get an actual screenshot by Terminal servering into one of my servers, pressing Ctl+Alt+End and then Clicking over to my desktop and pressing printscreen.

That shot was actually done with a digital camera, so you can see some artifacts...

Of course, I just realized that you were talking about Win2k PRO which doesn't support Terminal Services.

I spose you could use a Remote control app like Dameware or VNC...

    Anyway, here is my picture:
