    Hi, thanks for your help in advance...

    this is my predicrement...

    i have a Gigabyte GA-6vm7a+ (Motherboard) and i cant get a ATI RADEON 8500LE 128MB DDR installed correctly. I get Device conflicts up the hoohaaa...

    I have re-installed windows, Disabled all extra devices in windows, disabled com ports in the bios, updated drivers for the Gigabyte board, Updated DirectX, and Updated drivers for the card. ummm stil havent flashed the BIOS but Gigabytes site doesnt say any known problems with ATI Chipset cards.

    this is the error i get in the device manager...

    "This Device cannot find any free I/O range resources to use (Code 12)"

    "If you want to use this device, you must disable another device that is using the resources this device needs...."

    did you re-install the os, with the card in?

    did you reset your bios defults for :update escd, pnp os?

    if all else fails upgrade to a better os, such as winxp, or win 98se
    i love peta...and sars...
    and bin laden....and n. korea....and china...and p2p...spyware...

    Yup did all that...

    the customer isnt going to want to upgrade his OS, he is gonna return it....

    according to some other techs this has happend before and is repairable...

    but i dunno...

    OS and service pack level please...
    If it Windows 2000 Sp3 Gets lots of things done correctly.

    I would also try and disable the hardware accelaration option (under advanced in the display settings...)

    Have you tried changing your Computer entry in Device Manager to Standard PC from ACPI-Compliant?

    Ok, thanks for all your help, when i go into work today ill try all that stuff

    thanks a bunch....

    this is the crap that makes me NOT want to buy a RADEON 9700 ...

    we always have HUGE problems installing ATI cards, i dunno why, Nvidia always seems to work right away with out a hitch...

    I feel for ya. I spent about 5 hours trying to get the TV/Capture drivers to work on my All In Wonder Radeon. IMO, ATI is has reached the level of junk. But only because the video capture and video out on my Asus (nvidia Ti4600) worked immediately. No fuss, no muss.

    how about updating your VIA 4 in 1 drivers? Thats typically solved many odd issues with via chipset mbs in our lab

    still to no avail....ive told the customer to go with Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 420

    i know thats not as good as the RADEON 8500LE ...but what the heck....i cant have it done in a couple of seconds and playing Unread Tourny 2K3

    BAH!!! im now thinking twice about that RADEON 9700 PRO
