Question Can anyone suggest a good IT helpdesk program??

Can anyone suggest a good IT helpdesk program? I would perfer one that has web interface, uses PHP &/or MySQL, and is FREE. I would settle with one that uses CGI, but I want open source!

    Thanks.

Well maybe write one yourself?? That might be a very nice project...

I've never seen a free program doing what you want, but now I've replied I'll be able to see if anyone else does...

I have seen plenty on sourceforge.net, but they weren't that great. The one that I did like, well, its demo wasn't working so I had to go off of was the documentation.

If you have Lotus Notes, you'd be a fool not to use it..

    Apart from that
the remote access software called PC DUO has a really neat "HELP!" ability built into it..

I've heard the newer enterpise edition has an optional help desk component similar to the one requested, it isn't free though.

    ?

I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but Track-It is not good at all. It's a helpdesk call-tracking software with inventory and other functions.

We use Track IT.. I hate it, its horrible and if you actually want to do anything remotely useful, you have to buy additional components. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything else that meets mismanagements criteria. My idea of giving all supervisors a supply of specially trained pigeons to send service requests in was, quite rightly, shot down. I did hear that the makers of T.IT have been bought out by Intuit, not sure if that'll help or not though...

It's nice to hear that someone elses mis-management forces them to use Track-It Titchkey! The only thing it's good for it showing that even though we have 3 support people, I do 54% of the calls! The program isn't flexable at all. We have called the company and they just tell us that most of the stuff we want to do won't work!
