    testing laptop batteries

hi - does anyone know of any battery testers that will test IBM TP 600/600E li-ion batteries? we have got hundreds of these batteries and the inbuilt battery status software on the laptop reads the battery as 100% until it dies.

    thanks,

    Rob

is the battery monitoring software that you refer to an IBM specific product? if that is the case what does the built in windows power applet from the control panel say? or are the two so fused together that noone can split them?

also, go to the manufacturer's site and look for updates/patches to the program that may fix it, such as here

    good luck~

There are many free utilities that will measure the battery status. I have used Power Center 2.10 and it works well. Many of the utilities have a learning feature. By measuring the time it takes to run down it constantly revises its estimate of remaining battery life in minutes. This is especially useful as when batteries are failing the often can be fully charged and read 100 percent but only run a couple of minutes before they run out. Power Center would accurately show a 100 percent charge but it would show maybe 5 minutes of time left.
