Dual booting with win xp pro
Fellow Techs,
Could someone advise me as to the CORRECT procedure for dual booting with win xp & win 98 using 2 harddrives. win xp is not allowing me to dual boot although it is set to recognise the other harddrive. Could the software BOOTMAGIC be used here?

yes..you can use boot magic, however it needs to be installed on a fat32 partition on the boot drive. You can install it on your C drive regardless of which OS resides there, if the file system is FAT32..if the file system on the boot drive is ntfs..you have to change the drives around, or else use something like partition magic to create a small fat32 partition at the beginning of the drive..the second option may cause problems with xp

There is the easy way
Install 98 first
Install XP second to a different paritition from 98
XP automatically sets it up for you.
You only have to mess around with boot managers if 98 was added after xp.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I think he's having some problems because he wants one OS on one harddrive, and one OS on the other.

That shouldnt be a problem
As long as xp can put boot files in the boot sector of c: you can install xp to any drive you like.
