Liteon 40x12x48 fails on all after first disc.

Win Xp, AMD1.53Ghz, 256mb, 40gb

Liteon burner 40x12x48 will burn in Nero/Easy CD and Windows Media Player..... ONCE.

The second and every susequent burn fails at some point in the process. Shut down wait an hour and it will burn another ONE disc only.

I replaced the burner in the same system with an LG 24x10x40 and presto burnt 5 discs in less than 15-20mins.

Can't remember hearing of a burner failing on this basis.
On board RAM not clearing after initial burn?
Can anyone tell me what it is?

Laser's mis aligned slightly & getting something too hot, so do what you did & swap it out, original unit wants returning....

I had a simular problem, burnt one disc, then the it wouldnt read or write, just took it back and got a replacement.
