Display problem when watching DVD movies

    Hi All,
    Thanks in advance,

My PC P-III 700MHz with 256 MB RAM, Intel 810 Motherboard with onboard graphics VGA port and I have WIN XP with Servie Pack-2 loaded on my PC. My monitor is CRT [SAMSUNG 15"]. Problem is when iam watching movies with vcd's there is no problem in display, but if iam watching movies with DVD, here the problem, the motion of movie is not smooth(stops & plays, very disturbance), iam using PowerDVD to play DVD movies. I searched forums and i think the problem is with my built in onboard vga card, if so can i add new external card for my system and what card will suit my need.

Please let me know the solution...

    Welcome to Windrivers prakash

Your PC configuration is better suited to Windows 2000 than XP. You need to get at least 512mb RAM first. Then a better video card (you will probably need an AGP card), if you post the motherboard model I can recommend a suitable card.

Can you upgrade the processor as well?

No, not the chipset, the motherboard model number please. Unless you update the RAM as well, getting a new video card will be a waste of time.

    ok here is the manual

It will take 1gb RAM and has 64mb Video card onboard - which should be fine to run DVDS... just as well really, since the board doesn't appear to have an AGP slot.

Upgrade the RAM to at least 512mb and update the processor - it will take a P3 1.4Ghz but only if you update the bios before changing the processor

Alternatively, still update the RAM, but get a PCI video card (not pci-e or pci-x)

It is pointless me recommending any particular hardware as I have no idea what the market is like in India.
