weird cdrom display
Computer is running Win98 (I do not think it is factor, which is why I am posting here and not in the Win98 board). Any cd I put into the drive is displayed as an audio cd with 1 track, which the computer obviously fails to read when I click on it.
Any idea why or how to get it to read data?
Thanks
Rafi

This problem usually points to a cd drive on its way out, or as outcoded pointed out - the lens is dirty. Often the laser just loses alignment and there is no way to realign. Considering the cost of these drives now, it's not usually worth the troubleshooting time.
If you are determined to troubleshoot, put the drive in another machine and see if it behaves differently.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I ran into this the other day and posted here
Garak was right. I booted to a floppy that had cd support and there was my cd. Try reinstalling the drivers.
