You know, I just don't see why. It looks like everyone here is in agreement that religion, when taken to an extreme causes a lot of bloodshed and death. Given a reasonable person I'm sure that you have lots more good stories about religion helping people for every bad one where it hurts.

Personally, I used to blame religion like some people blame guns or drugs for what have you for violence and pain and suffereing. i have now come to the conclusion that some people are just plain nuts (for lack of a better way of putting it) and would be unstable and cause violence or persecute no matter what the reason or method. It's just that people need to blame things and have reasons for things that simply have no ryme or reason to them. It is dificult to understand hatred or mania.
