computer geeks needed Please Help!!!!!
this is the deal i bought a new video card about a month ago to play my new games. every thing was working fine intill about a week ago. i shut down the computer one day and wheni go to play a game the next day it doesnt load, and in some cases some of my games will load to a black screen and then my computer freezes. i have no idea what is going on but these are some of the things i have tryed.
1.i unistalled all my games and then reinstalled only one but still nothing
2. I unistlled direct x 8 and reinstalled direct x 8.1 still nothing
3.i checked out the direct x diagnostic test and every thing is working fine but when i loaded it it said problems with direct sound,direct music, and accessing system information( i dont even kow if it has to do with my direct x)
4. i reinstalled my sound card still nothing happend and my video card dtill nothing happend
5.closed all unnessesary running programs in the backround.
6. put the hardware acceleratare to minimuim still nothing
PLEASE HELP I DONT WANT TO PAY ANOTHER 80$s for my computer guy to fix it

In order to help you better, we need more information.- Describe your computer in detail. If it is a brand name machine, give us the make and model number from the back of the computer. If it is a custom built, then tell us the motherboard, video card, processor, sound card, etc. The more information the better
- What operating system are you running?
- Did you do anything to your computer around the same time this problem started?

no conflicts no other problems with my computer besides the fact that my windows media player doesnt work but i unistalled it and it still didn't work but other wise no i still have the same old problem

i got thjis computer it off of tv but now there data base for support help is gone and i have had this computer for about 2 years and nothing has been wrong with it up in till now and i dont know my serial number for the computeri have a standard 102 keyboard working fine

i have a via tech 8598 Cpu
my sound card is a C-media PCI audio legacy Device

All of your drivers up to date? Video, mobo chipset, sound etc? And is it just with a single game or is it with all games?

do you have antivirus installed?
I have seen norton 2003 cause issues like this.
