Question can't map network driver "more data is available"?

I have created a new folder on one of our WIN2000 server
and shared it. I can access it by using WIN XP, but users with WIN98 can't see it or map it? I have done the share in
the same way as all the others on the same server and
given access rights for user groups. Other shares works
on all the PC's, but the new one gives message on the WIN
98 "Windows Networking error; More data is available" doesn't mean anything to me.

If the W2k and XP machines drives are NTFS instead of FAT, Win 98 won't see them.

    What!!!!!!!!

When you are sharing files, the only time a file system matters is in the case of NTFS has permissions, and FAT doesn't. Your statement is a complete myth.

The previous shares that worked were just files? The new ones are folders? It could be that the files in the folders are not inheriting the permissions correctly.

Glad its fixed .... this is a limit of the file system on 98 ... 98 handles 'long' filenames in a different way you can have up to 255 chars, but the DOS filename remains the same & is governed by the same limits - so the limit is 8 chars before the '.' and 3 after which is 11, so any network 'pass' of these names is also limited to 11 chars max.
