ASUS A7M266D Satability Problems... Specs and Error Codes Included...

Ok just got a new antec 550 true power supply and 512 MB of Crucial Ram and the machine is still unstable!!!

I do not know what is left. However I still cannot play through an entire game of AOM.

    My Specs

    XP Corp
Antec TruePower 550 Watt Power Supply
    Asus A7M266 Manual Version 1.02 E949
    Dual Athlon XP 1800s+
    WD 120GB Special Edition Drive
Radeon 8500DV All in one wonder (latest driver set included)
    512 2100 DDR RAM (crucial)
    40x12x40 Plextor Drive
    Soundblaster live Platnium 5.1
Old School DVD Drive (forget brand sony?)

This is the latest error code I have been getting.

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7. (from the game AOM)

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 80538529, parameter3 f410b428, parameter4 00000000.

I get this one alot not sure what is causing it though.

Any Ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like you have the onboard USB enabled. Kill it in the BIOS and you should be fine. If you use USB devices you can get a good USB2 controller for a good price at your local computer store. onboard USB = bad

I think my problem may have been heat related (with so many different issues going on) now I have a 12" fan blowing into my open case and it is 100% stable today.

Have you been playing with XPs services ?

You can get that exact error message if you turn some of the 'transport' services off ... but you seem convinced its heat I guess you can't argue with '100% stable'
