KB/Mouse slow down
Gotta a new wierd prob. KB and mouse work fine in everything except when I'm online. Then I get a delayed reaction from both KB and mouse when I'm filling out forms and checking boxes, but only when I'm online. I don't recall changing anything recently to cause this.
System:
Gigabyte 7xe mobo
AMD Athlon 1100 ghz
256MB sdram
SIS 305 Video card
SB Live
Windows 98SE
Dial-up (sorry)
Any ideas!

What kind of k/b & mouse ?
'Ordinary' (so using ps/2 connectors) or USB ?
& you have done a virus/trojan check !? especially since the problem only seems to be 'online'.....?

Standard PS2 mouse and KB. Mouse is Deisner and KB is Microsoft.
I have Norton Utilities enabled. But it's never been a problem before. I will disable and see if it makes a difference.

I agree with confus-ed...do an online virus scan and run a good trojan detector..sounds like you have something sucking up your system resources when online..with dial-up it will be a lot more obvious..do you have any p2p file sharing installed?

No, no file sharing, PC is totally stand alone. I will try disabling Norton tonite. As far as running an on-line Trojan scan, is House Call preferred?

Not here .... good AV s/w should do it, but often doesn't (sigh - Norton ought to do it itself!) try Spybot , I'm not a fan of on-line trojan checkers as there are 'methods' that can leave these trojans unfound which just wouldn't occur if you weren't online, that ones free anyways & isn't too huge a download even on dial up .....

What brand / type of modem are you using?
The early bird may get the worm; but the second mouse gets the cheese!

Update
I've disabled all Norton utils @ startup. Didn't have any effect on problem. I'll have to check on the make/model of the modem when I get home.
My available resources seems to running a bit low- Mid 60%'s.
I will try the trojan detector next, will update.
