sound blaster live game port xp
i am running windows xp, p3 500, 256 mb RAm, abit be6 mobo
i cannot get the system to recognize the game port on my sound blaster. i try ot install generic game port and creative game port(selected from the windows add new hardware prompt) and those still don't recognize it.
it has not worked since i built the system, which originally had 98se.
i upgraded the bios and installed the latest drivers from creative which apparantly deal with only the audio aspect of the card?
is this a driver issue or is my hardware not working correctly?

boot into safe mode, remove all instances of the game port and reboot. If it does not detect... which is likely since it never has, the card is faulty.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Does the card have a jumper on it to disable the game port?

there is one jumper located on the front of the card. It has no label on the card, as the aux and cd in ports have, and it isn't mentioned in the documentation.
the jumper has 3 poles. I moved the small black jumper thing to the other possible setting and removed it entirely, each time booting up and looking for the game port. THe jumper doesn't appear to do anything.
