    Win2k upgrade from 98 - problem

I am trying to upgrade a Dell INspiron 5000 laptop from Win98 to Win2k. I am using an original cd and after it gives me the upgrade report telling me what is incompatible, it moves into the installation files copying section.

It flies through, but about 85% of the way through, it gives me an error. It says, an error occurred copying file cdrom.sys to c:\$win_nt$.~BT\cdrom.sy_. copy skip or exit, blah blah blah..
Retrying does not help. Exiting stops the upgrade. I tried skipping, but as I suspected, after the reboot, I get a message saying no cdrom.sys file, cannot continue..
I used a different cd, but got the same error.

How can I get around this?

    Thanks
    Rafi

    found this on google -

if the one file that can't be copied is the CDROM.SYS
(CDROM.SY_), than open your config.sys file, look for a
    line containing "device=(some ATAPI) /d=cdrom"
and remove the "/d=cdrom" part of this line.
    Reboot and Update will work.

    It works..
