need help adapting laptop cdrw to desktop

I've just been given an ibm cdrw and a a dvd(both came from an ibm t22 thinkpad)..
I'm building a case for a pc which is very small so ive used the 2.5 harddrive from the laptop and would like to use the 2 drives that i just mentioned. Ive found an adapter for the hard drive but am a little stuck on adapting the cdrw/dvd to either ata or serial ata(scsi would be ok)...
the problem is that they fit into an inbuilt cradle adapter(ibm specific??)... maybe i could rip this out of the laptop but id rather not at the moment..
the question.. is there an adapter for the drives available commercially anywere or can someone suggest a simple way of making an adapter from existing parts(ones that i can get hold of easily)????

I'm not 100% sure it's possible to convert the CDRW over, but a good place to start would be to obtain the pin-out of the device, as well as the pinout for an IDE connector. I hope that helps a little...
