msdos compatibility mode
Anyone ever had one partition on a hdd using msdos compatibility mode?? I've had whole drives using it before...but not just one partition.
It's a Compaq 5220 with a Maxtor hdd (model 54610H6). It has two partitions. The primary is 35 Gig and the extended is 8.8 Gigs. The second partition is using comp. mode.
Is it because it's some sort of system save partition??
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I've given up on it...as far as I can guess, the customer must have used some sort of 3rd party partitioning utility or something to extend the system save partition on his hdd.
I don't think I've ever seen a system save partition on a Compaq that is that large before. Everything in the system works, and it's doesn't appear to be affecting the overall speed of the system.
However, if there are any Compaq users out there who can tell me if the size of that partition is correct or not, I'd appreciate it.

Most of the ones I remember seeing are typically 2Gb.
